This is a genuine 27″ x 41″ U.S. one sheet ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTER issued by the studio when the film was released in 1980 and meant for theatrical display. Linen Backed, ready for framing. Not framed. Studio issued. Prior to Linen Backing this poster was folded as issued. Not a reproduction. This is a vintage original poster from our archives. Guaranteed authentic. These can be very difficult to find in any condition! A long time can go by without one of these coming up for sale. You will have trouble finding a nicer one. Description from Bruce H: ”Note that this poster is clearly not the regular U.S. ”style B” one-sheet. It has exactly the same image, and yet the coloring is different (on the regular U.S. ”style B” one-sheet, the color is a light sky blue, while on this poster, the color is a darker lavender type color). The printing in the bottom border is also different. The title is on the lower left on this poster while it is on the lower right of the other poster, and this poster says ”ONE SHEET B”, while the regular poster says ”STYLE B”, and they are in different positions. Finally, the regular poster has an NSS number in the bottom right, and this one does not. This is because this poster was printed for internal use by 20th Century-Fox and LucasFilm, and these posters were never distributed to theaters. This information was confirmed for us by Steve Sansweet and Pete Vilmur, the authors of the ”Star Wars Poster Book”, and they say that there are far fewer of these posters than there are of the NSS version.” CONDITION/GRADE: C8-C9 EXCELLENT-NEAR MINT LINEN BACKED Looks beautiful! Please be advised that over 95% of all Original Movie Posters printed before the mid 1980’s were issued FOLDED. This is NOT considered a defect. They were shipped to theaters this way. Vintage rolled posters do exist, however they are extremely rare. We can have any folded poster Linen Backed which will make the fold lines virtually disappear. Also please note that most movie posters were actually used at the theater, and some will contain slight imperfections such as: writing on the back, pin holes, fold wear, small tears, etc. These are all very common and to be expected, but if they bother you, all these minor flaws can be remedied in the linen backing process. Linen Backing preserves and can actually increase the value of a poster. For the most part, any flaws will be fixed and the poster will appear to be in Near Mint condition. Unless otherwise specified, poster measurements quoted above are approximate to the nearest inch. For example, if we say a one sheet poster is 27″ x 41″ its precise measurements may be closer to 26 3/4″ x 40 7/8″ (or something similar).
