Eligio “Kika” de la Garza II (b.1927) was a congressman from Texas who served as a member of Congress from 1965 to 1997. When he was 17, de la Garza joined the U.S. Navy and served for two years. Then, he served as an officer in the United States Army during the Korean War (1950-1952). A graduate of the law school at St. Mary’s, de la Garza practiced law in Mission, Texas until he became a member of the Texas State House of Representatives (1952 -1964). Elected as a Democrat to the 89th Congress, de la Garza was also a member of the fifteen Congresses that followed, and served for over 30 years. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
