eBay Early Amazing Imperial Carnival Glass Green Open Rose Rose Bowl (#400-128) Early Amazing Imperial Carnival Glass Green Open Rose Rose Bowl (#400-128) Click images to enlarge Description This estate piece is an impressive green carnival glass rose bowl made by Imperial Glass. It was called the ”Silver Beauty” (silvered-green, named helios) in early catalogs. The Imperial Glass Company of Bellaire, Ohio made high quality glass from 1904-1982.We believe this bowl to be an early unmarked piece from the early 1900’s. Early Imperial Carnival Glass was not marked in any way. Carnival Glass is pressed glass that has been iridized with a metallic spray and was first introduced by Fenton about 1908. The quality of the iridizing process is critical in carnival glass and this piece is amazing in the quality of the silvery iridized finish. The pattern on this bowl has had several names but we’ll refer to this one as their “Open Rose” pattern # 489. This decorative bowl has a beautiful design with a variety of both open roses and rose buds embossed on the bowl. This pattern has three wider panels showing a rose with buds alternating with three smaller panels that have a daisy pattern. It has a circular collared foot that, appropriate for being an early piece, is not iridized. A beautiful piece! Dimension/size – This bowl stands about 2 ¾” high and is about 6” in diameter. It weighs one pound two ounces. Condition – This bowl is in very good to exceptional condition with no issues to report. Please see photos.
