Released in 1974, the Roland RE-201 Space Echo is a legendary product loved by musicians around the world. Its rhythmic, warm echo sound creates a one-of-a-kind worldview and is highly acclaimed not only by guitarists, but also by producers and PA engineers. The RE-202 reproduces the Space Echo at an unprecedented level. BOSS, which is well versed in the original, has thoroughly pursued elements that have not been focused on until now, and has revealed the reason why it is a legendary sound. The RE-202 also offers new features to inspire the creativity of today’s musicians, including expanded repeatability, a reverb type, and a fourth playback head that does not exist on the original, and the ability to save these settings on the unit. The RE-202 has all the charm of the Space Echo that musicians find so appealing. ＜Key Features Replicates the sound and behavior of the Roland RE-201 Space Echo at an unprecedented level. Warm, distinctive echo sound, twice the length of the original Four playback heads can be combined to create 12 different sound variations. A complete reproduction of the original SPRING REVERB, with a choice of 5 reverb types including HALL, PLATE, ROOM, and AMBIENCE. 5. Modulation effect obtained by the WOW and FLUTTER knobs. The SATURATION knob controls the amount of preamplifier distortion. Two INPUT modes to accommodate various device input levels. The tape echo was the first effect pedal that could produce the ”Yamabiko” effect, a warm and dynamic sound that attracted many musicians. The tape echo is an extremely simple machine that uses a motor to rotate a magnetic tape and a recording head to record the sound, which is then played back by the next head. Therefore, the sound is easily affected by the structure, and changes depending on conditions, the speed of the motor, and how friction is applied. The sound changes depending on the condition, the speed of the motor, and the way the friction is applied, which also adds to the pleasant fluctuation of the sound. The legendary ”Space Echo The RolandRE-201Space Echo, born in 1974, was the tape echo that dominated the era. The iconic MODESELECTOR knob, located in the center, offers a choice of 12 different combinations of playback heads. A fourth playback head, not present on the original, expands the number of Space Echo-like tricky echo sound variations by five. Reverb can be selected from a total of five reverb types including HALL/PLATE/ROOM/AMBIENCE as well as SPRING REVERB, which is included in the original. The magnetic tape condition can be selected from NEW/AGED to realistically reproduce the unstable behavior sound changes caused by aged tapes. The WOW & FLUTTER knob controls the natural modulation effect caused by the unstable rotation of the magnetic tape, and the SATURATION knob adjusts the amount of magnetic saturation and preamplified distortion. The stepwise changes in pitch that occur when the REPEAT RATE knob is turned and the intense oscillating sound that occurs when the INTENSITY is at its maximum value are also true Space Echo characteristics. The direct sound can also be fed through a pre-amplifier, just like the original, adding the unique essence of the Space Echo to the sound. Modernized Features The RE-202 has many of the features needed by today’s musicians: the REPEATRATE can be extended to twice the length of the original, allowing for settings that match today’s music scene. It can also store favorite settings and recall up to 4 memories when using the unit alone, and up to 127 memories when controlled from an external MIDI device. A tap tempo function is also provided, allowing the REPEAT RATE to be changed to match the tempo of the song while playing. Also, by pressing and holding the pedal on the main unit, you can turn REVERB on and off, and turn TWIST and WARP on and off for more aggressive effects. The inputs and outputs are stereo compatible, allowing you to fully enjoy the wide range of iconic reverb. The input level can be optimized to match the connected equipment.
